We were really itching for a day hike, so we went to Table Mountain – rain or shine. Flag Falls is located another 1.5 miles from Phantom Falls, hiking on familiar ground. I still managed to punch in the wrong GPS coordinates; we were off 1 mile north west of our intended mark. I will not forgo the topographic map ever again.
Day started off as a wonderful day with crisp afternoon air and sunny skies. As soon as we made it to Flag Falls, sleet fell, followed by snow. We intended to descend from Table Mountain for a peak below Flag Falls; however, decided against it for concerns of finding a safe way down in wet conditions. On our way back up, the sun came back.
The falls we observed last year have nothing on the falls this time. It helps to seek waterfalls following a rain storm.
- Triple Aught Design is still working on their gloves, right? These 5.11 sheep skin gloves protected my hands. Warm? Not so much.
- Hail, sleet, snow.
- Descent toward the base of Flag Falls.
- Where we were contemplating on the merits of exploring the area under Flag Falls.
i keep procrastinating on shipping your filter back.. it has been in a box, waiting for me to ship it.
i haven’t found a good lightweight glove to keep my hands warm myself, but i find the 5.11s too heavy hahah.
