A 10 year old boy allegedly attacked a 29 year old woman to defend his mother and “will likely face a felony assault charge in juvenile court”. “Police believe the victim, 29-year old Tishnell Davis, got into a physical altercation with the boy’s mother and the boy picked up the knife to defend her.”
“Even if the investigation turns out it is in defense of the mother, it’s still something that has to be dealt with because you have a 10 year old that’s now dealing things through extreme violence.”
If the investigation were to turn out that the attack was in defense of the mother, would Capt. Nicholas Panoessa prefer the child to dial 911, wait several minutes for police to arrive, and risk further bodily injury to his mother? How does the threat of a 29 y/o woman compare to a 10 year old boy? Several questions remain unanswered, but I’m concerned with this mentality that force is always bad.
Yes. Tell the child to be a sheep. Bahh! Bark like a sheepdog, you must “be dealt with.”
Investigation is still on-going, so I may have to eat crow later…
