Minor Rail Mod. for the Ruger Mark III 22/45

Unaltered mount with a Burris FastFire reflex sight.

Kevin Rich kindly gave me a Black Dog Machine holster for the Ruger Mark series to evaluate at SHOT 2010.  I was mostly impressed that one can utilize an optics setup with the holster.  It’s practically an all-in-one holster for the Ruger Mark series pistols.  As advertised; however, the Ruger factory standard rail will not work for this holster.  You’ll need an after market scope rail such as Tactical Solution’s Pac-Lite Standard Scope Base.

… Or you can modify your factory mount!

Though my process is slow, the evaluation is still underway.  I don’t make it out to the shooting range as often as I used to, so reviews have been rather slow.   In any case, the modification is very simple.  Just cut, sand and paint.

The cutting is finished, I just need to find some paint.  See it with the Ruger Mark II 22/45.

      Hi James,

It’s a Burris FastFireII mounted on the Ruger.

Just thought to mention that the Tac Sol standard rail is not a drop in to the stock Ruger 22/45. It was designed for the Tac Sol receiver so the threads, screws are different. Go figure. With modification you can make it work though.
