I applied for “graduate studies” for a teaching credential and masters program at a California university last year. I was denied because of a small technicality. After rectifying a minor issue, I applied again.
I’ve been admitted for the Fall quarter of 2010.
This likely means:
– No week-long trips to Reno, NV for GBR-V (I can likely squeeze in a weekend)
– No SHOT Show
– Debt
– Less shooting
This situation can’t be that bad. It’s only five quarters.
Congratulations!
Be sure to check the individual campus’ rules/regs on firearms; while a dorm rat at UC Davis I got a pistol permit that allowed me to bring my revolver on campus, but only to the police department where they’d lock it up for me. ๐ฆ
Assuming you can’t /dont want to go that route but keep a firearm in your vehicle, you will want to get familiar with off-campus parking….
Congratulations! Eventually you will be making a living that affords all the shooting you want. It will be worth it! That is a great little video you just posted of the Boomershoot.
nice! keep a lookout for grants provided by local teacher orgs; they may be able to fund your way through school. Maybe even try looking into being a graduate TA for an upperdiv you took? I don’t know the policies at UCD.
Hopefully it is only 5 quarters. Mine was supposed to be 6 but it’ll be 8 or 9 quarters. That’s how research goes.
Are Teachers-Union members allowed to shoot? Once my dad and mom got their Edu degrees they became pacifist. ๐
Weren’t they pacifist long before?
The CATU won’t have to know what I do – at least before tenure. ๐
