Penny Stove Trial #1

Using Herbie's penny stove tips.

Using Herbie's penny stove tips.

I made a penny stove out of Heineken beer cans this weekend.  The outcome went well; however, I haven’t measured it’s efficiency yet.  I’m currently using yellow HEET for fuel.  Going to attempt to find denatured alcohol or Everclear when I can find it.

A penny stove is a light weight alcohol stove that utilizes Heineken beer cans. It’s a real cool project that can be completed in less than an hour.

I added a link in the post to the plans for the penny stove.

Go to the wood finishing section of a hardware store. Denatured alcohol is used to thin or remove shellac and is much cheaper than Everclear. Alcohol stoves are slower than white gas, but they won’t monoxide you if you have to fire up in your car during a survival situation. I carry a cake pan to contain spills so I don’t burn down the vehicle.
