Shingle Falls – Nevada County, CA

I drove futher north this time to hike the next waterfall on the list.  This was located in the Spenceville Wildlife Area.  After seeing my photos, a friend wanted to tag along to admire the beauty of nature in person.  She was less than enthused after about a half mile.

It was 98 degrees fahrenheit, dry and there was little shade to walk under.  She’s a Tahoe person, so she prefers the cooler weather.  For those who know me – I don’t mind warm weather.  Despite subtle hints that she was miserable, tired and hot, she pushed through and made hiked the entire the 5.6 mile trail.

I’ve been getting a real kick using my water filter.  I ought to review that someday since it’s been great to have.  It’s in a small package that attaches to my day pack utilizing Kifaru’s Dock N’ Lock system.

Though the hike went well without incident, some have advised to avoid this area during open season.
