Since skipping the breakfast meetings in the morning, I’ve had much more energy throughout the day. Though shooting is the best thing since sliced bread, it can be exhaustive!
This year, the range trip was much warmer compared to the weather last year. From three layers of clothing, a majority of us were in t-shirts! Shooting a variety of firearms and doing our best reaching out to 900 yard targets, I had a great time. Nothing was out of the ordinary except for the Bison Armory 6.8mm SPC upper that was out there. This is an amazing round! It was shooting out to at least 500 yards consistently with iron sights.
Later that evening, we gathered for our annual Show-N-Tell. I think the coolest Show-N-Tell were the ballistic paintings that Phil and David brought. I shared my experience regarding the CA legal Saiga 7.6x39mm carbine. Essentially, I explained it appeared to be the best choice among other available carbines in CA without utlizing bullet buttons and alternative grips, while maintain reliability and ammunition/magazine availability.
Oh. Alan Gura arrived. Are you jealous? He related to us that the bottom line is:
– He feels optimistic regarding the outcome for 2nd Amendment rights through the courts.
– He feels that he made a strong argument for Sykes vs McGuinness and Nordyke vs King and is optimistic about the outcome.
– Though he sympathizes with gun owners, Mr. Gura related to us to resist public actions that may scare the sheep, i.e., open carry.
– Gun owners must fight battles we can win today. Machine gun laws aren’t among them.
