Instead of preparing for Boomershoot this evening, I was obsessed figuring out why my jackets don’t fit as well as I wanted them to. I have one suit that fits really well and I feel absolutely comfortable. I could wear it all day and not feel awkward. It happens to be an older suit. I recently bought another suit after some brief research. It’s an ‘off-the-rack” variety. I couldn’t really explain to the salesperson what I wanted since I really had no idea what I was looking for. I told them I was looking for mobility, and a jacket that will fit close. Beyond that, I went along with their suggestions. Game over… fail… you’re doing it wrong.
Took home an altered suit a week later and tried it on once for a day. My goodness, I didn’t even want to wear the jacket. I didn’t quite understand why or how to express to the tailor how I would want it to fit. After a lengthy google-fu marathon this evening, I think I found the information I was looking for…
I wish I had found his blog sooner. I hope the retailer honors their return policy because I doubt they can correct/alter the jacket enough to my liking. We’ll see tomorrow afternoon. I’m going to raise hell if they don’t honor at least store credit…
Not firearms related, but I’ve added The Houndstooth Kid on my blogroll. His blog is an inspirational find.
Holy crap, that’s the problem I’ve had with almost every suit jacket I’ve ever owned. I had no idea.
