Round Two

You might remember her as the “Dancing Giddy Girl.

Her last visit was at The Gun Room located in Elk Grove, CA.  We were supposed to take our second trip several months ago, but academia comes first.  With the fresh start of a new quarter, she was available to shoot a few rounds Sunday afternoon.  She only remembered two of the four Cooper’s safety rules, but she managed to recall them with a few hints.  After a brief review on sight alignment and sight picture, she plink’d her way through the steel animals at the 50 yard mark with little problems.

When I first introduced her to the rifle, I handed her the Winchester 69.  She wasn’t a big fan of it because it can be difficult to cycle the bolt shut.  I took mental note of that for future range sessions.  This time around, I brought an AR-15 variant with a .22 RIMFIRE upper (Absolutely legal in it’s photographed configuration since CA assault weapon laws only apply to CENTERFIRE rifles [SB23 1999]) and a Ruger 10/22.  I don’t think she even touched the Ruger.

After knocking down several steel targets, each flying over with a *ping*, she exclaimed, “I own this rifle!”
