Disbelief

A few days ago, I heard the most horrifying statement in a LONG time.

“Citizens shouldn’t be allowed to have guns – for the sake of the officer’s safety, I wouldn’t want them to be armed if I were called for service.”

I’ve been hearing a lot of audacious things from students since I started my Associates degree in Administration of Justice.  I dare say the attitude toward citizen armament is MUCH worse than the liberal campus of UC Davis.

To the credit of the professor, he at least suggested that gun owners in general are law abiding citizens.

Another professor however suggested this:

“If there were ought to be a handgun ban, I would support it.  I understand that these folks feel that they have a right to bare arms, but they can defend their home using a shotgun.  Just point and shoot.”

I don’t feel that I really need to go into detail how wrong that statement is…

It’s easy to be anti-gun when you live in a nice gated community, work on a nice campus, and have a police response time some of us could only dream of. Here in the world though- where people actually exist- problems seem far more . . . .real.

    its scary man. very scary.
