People of the Gun

When the topic of firearm ownership is discussed among my friends, family, and acquaintances, I often find myself emphasizing that guns are typically not owned by the uneducated redneck, anti-social hermit, or even white, middle aged men with a receding hairline (this is where you’re supposed to laugh). Those who own firearms are part of a diverse group who vary by race, religion, class and gender – or what Jeff Manza and Clem Brooks would refer to as social cleavage. Some people fail to recognize the diversity of gun ownership isn’t a ritual isolated to the suburban or rural white folk of America.

Jeff Soyer of www.alphecca.com created People of the Gun to show that gun ownership is beyond race, religion, class and gender. We, the People of the Gun, are a diverse group of individuals who enjoy the recreational sport, the practical tool, and the freedom that firearms symbolize.

For those of you who are not a person of the gun, join the tribe.
