Please recall the negative attention Mr. Helinski of Guns America received last year. I didn’t take offense; therefore, made no comment on the matter. However, I do question if there will be stringent protocols in place to differentiate qualified media professionals from nobodies. Below is an email I received offering free shirts for “writers, bloggers, and Youtubers.”
Hello to all SHOT 2103 Show Media from GunsAmerica!
We printed a special t-shirt this year specifically for writers, bloggers, and Youtubers in the hopes of making an infectious mark on SHOT 2013. To some degree the shooting sports industry is forced this week to remain business as usual, but as many of you know, our industry is in big trouble, because our gun freedom is in big trouble. We are under a planned and orchestrated direct attack on the 2nd Amendment, and the more we make SHOT Show 2013 about getting this message out to the masses the better. Please come to our booth, 1925, to claim your free “I am a Good Guy With a Gun” tshirt and wear it proudly at the show.M
We are mailing you from the official SHOT Show media list, which we purchased, but many of you are already GunsAmerica subscribers and probably have been following our “We Stand As One” campaign. Within days of the shooting at Sandy Hook we started our own “Law Abiding Gun Owner” petition at the whitehouse.gov website and got 57,000 signatures before the White House nipped it in the bud and answered all of the gun petitions, shutting down the ability to sign. After the fact we received hundreds of reports that our people never got their confirmation emails, and overall we had a total of over 160,000 people click from GunsAmerica directly into the petition. Before the anti-gun petition was taken down at the same time it only reached 196,000. Our GunsAmerica subscribers, with obstacles, in TWO DAYS, got 1/4 as many signatures as the entirety of the anti-gun national media combined. Given one more day and an equal ability to sign, we would have beat them.
Our message now is to mobilize every single mailing list in our industry to reach all of the gun owners across the USA. This fight isn’t about the NRA, or GunsAmerica, or Gunbroker, or Midway, or Cabelas, or the gun manufacturers, or any other single entity in the gun world. This is a fight for all of our futures, and for the future of America itself. All of us in the media are the voices from SHOT 2013 to the gun world. If we make SHOT about reaching out to gun owners with all of the mailing lists in the industry, maybe we can actually make a difference and stop the anti-gunners cold, despite their despicable plans.
You will find the GunsAmerica Dealer Services booth at 1925, pretty much right in the middle downstairs, and it is tough to miss. To claim your free “I Am a Good Guy with a Gun” tshirt you will have to show your media badge, and if we still have some left you get one. The sizes are first come, first served, as is the availability, and we ordered 500 of these shirts. We can’t require that you wear it at the show, because many of you have to wear your own company attire, but for those who don’t, we do request that you use it to get the buzz going if possible. If you happen to be female, sorry, but blame Wayne Lapierre, not us on this one. Female media may request one of our other shirts that we print for our dealer customers who come to the booth, or a size small tank top like the models will be wearing if we have some left.
Have a great SHOT Show 2013, and we hope to see you at the booth.
