Just finished reading Hiroo Onoda’s account of his 30 year war as a Japanese intelligence officer through WWII. An excellent read!
The hardship, determination and will of this Japanese solider is outstanding. Throughout his account, I often found my palm against my forehead concerning his reason and logic for staying on the Philippine islands for as long as he did. However, I suppose what’s more relevant to us is if we have it in ourselves to meet or exceed Onoda’s fortitude against the overwhelming hardships he encountered. I wager that many do not come close.
